To the Caltech Community from Jean-Lou Chameau and Carol Carmichael

As we begin the new year, we would like to take time to reflect upon the many accomplishments of the Caltech community in 2008. These accomplishments attest to the greatness of the Institute's faculty, staff, and students.

Even in these uncertain economic times, we are certain that Caltech will continue to lead the way in science and technology, contributing to the foundation of knowledge and innovation needed to build a stronger institution and world.

In the spirit of tapping our many talents to enrich life on campus, we are dedicating resources traditionally allocated to holiday cards to Caltech's jazz bands, which draw their musicians from the students, faculty, staff, and alumni on the Caltech campus and at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
